Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's departure on Monday.

The Manager's Position on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and guided the team to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only four games last season as they were demoted back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique job here at a special team. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Anything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Context and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "I don't think everyone has to go around and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was questioned about his reported buyout clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Ipswich manager forever. I know that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Wales forward is minded to complete the ongoing global tournament campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are presently third in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and runners-up Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in next month would book their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually assured of making those, due to a productive Nations League performance, even if they not end up Group J runners-up.

Given his present stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after the European Championship, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
